June 13, 2017 (Hampton, Va.) – Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia appointed Nhu Yeargin to its board of directors. A long-time resident of the Peninsula community, Yeargin and her husband own and operate YLS, Inc., a Class A commercial landscaping contractor that has served Southeastern Virginia since 1986. She earned her B.A. at Christopher Newport College and her M.B.A at The College of William & Mary.
“Nhu’s active community engagement as a business owner, an employer and a volunteer are especially valuable as Goodwill strives to create more mission impact and awareness in the Hampton Roads community,” said Charles Layman, Goodwill’s president and CEO.
Yeargin’s community involvement, past and present, includes Langley Civic Leaders Association, the American Heart Association, Langley Federal Credit Union, the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA, Peninsula Women’s Network, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, Riverside Regional Medical Center, the York County Chamber of Commerce, the Peninsula Chinese American Association, the Mariners’ Museum, Virginia Asian Chamber of Commerce, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, The Free Community Clinic of Newport News and First United Church of Christ in Hampton.
Goodwill recently completed its multi-phase, $7,000,000 investment in its Retail and Support Center in Hampton that encompasses a Community Employment Center, a retail store, an outlet, a recycled electronics store, and production facilities for donated goods. The new employment center provides training, job readiness preparation and job placement support for individuals facing challenges to work. Goodwill has served Hampton Roads since 1925 and operates 17 stores in the region.
